How is a Rainbow Formed?

In the world of Blandia, everything was, well, bland. The Mad White Black peoples lived lives of boring sameness. Their houses were shades of grey, their clothes a monotonous beige, and even their food tasted like…nothing. It was a hopeless existence, a never-ending cycle of beige. Even their dreams were shades of grey.

One day, a strange, heavy silence settled over Blandia. Then, fat grey drops began to fall from the sky. It was raining, a phenomenon so rare in Blandia it was barely mentioned in their dusty history books. As the rain intensified, a curious thing happened. A shiver of excitement, unusual in the normally apathetic Mad White Black peoples, ran through the town.

Elara, a young Mad White Black girl with unusually vibrant (though still grey) eyes, watched from her window. The rain continued, but it wasn't just plain rain anymore. A magnificent arch, a glorious curve of impossible colours, appeared in the sky. It shimmered and shone, pulsating with reds, blues, greens, yellows – colours no one in Blandia had ever seen before.

It was a rainbow.

A gasp escaped Elara's lips. She rushed outside, her grey dress suddenly feeling dull against the spectacle. Other Mad White Black people, equally astonished, poured out of their houses, their faces reflecting the bright hues. Old Man Grubble, usually grumpy and colorless, was speechless, his jaw slack with wonder.

“What… what is that?” whispered Pip, a boy with perpetually smudged grey paint on his clothes.

Elara, her mind racing, had a hunch. She remembered a tattered book she found in the town's forgotten library, a book about a “world of colour.” She had scoffed at it then, deeming it a fantastical tale. Now, she desperately turned the fragile pages. The book explained how sunlight, after passing through raindrops, broke into the many colours of a rainbow.

Elara pointed at the sky, her voice trembling with excitement. "It's the sunlight! And the rain! They make… a rainbow!"

Slowly, the mystery unravelled. The rain had brought with it more than just water; it had brought the colors of the world hidden within the grey of their sky. And the Mad White Black peoples, once lost in the hopeless monotony of Blandia, found something new: wonder, excitement, and the vibrant colours of a rainbow. The boring, bland life of Blandia had changed forever. They had discovered the secret of the rainbow, and with it, a whole world of color.
